Sermon Notes

“A Heart of Prayer”
Pastor Kevin Wilson

Psalm 86:1-4
John 4:24

How this passage points to Christ: In the overall narrative of the Bible, Jesus embodies the ultimate plea for help by interceding on humanity's behalf, showcasing God's mercy through His life, death, and resurrection. He exemplifies how God responds to our cries by providing a way to reconciliation and hope.

Big Idea: Our genuine cries for help reveal to us our need for God, leading us to experience His grace, which transforms our hardships into opportunities for growth and deeper faith.

“The joy which answers to prayer give, cannot be described; and the impetus which they afford to the spiritual life is exceedingly great.” ― George Mueller, Answers To Prayer

1. We can ask of the Lord. vs. 1-3

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24-26

2. We can expect good things from the Lord. v. 4

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
James 1:17

“Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”
Matthew 7:9-11

God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:24
