Family Discipleship

We are all on mission to train up our kids in the way they should go. Westover Kids is with you in this adventure. Here are three things we would love for you to consider while trying these devotionals:

  1. Make a Plan. Recognize the importance of setting aside some time to explore the scriptures with your kids. It is clear throughout scripture that God’s design for the family is that the parents would lead their families in worship. Let’s accept that mission. Your plan can be that you try family worship every night at dinner…or bedtime…or in the car-rider line on the way to school. None of these are wrong. Create a realistic plan and stick to it.
  2. Start Small. We know it’s not easy. Start somewhere. Start with this resource – we made it for you! If it starts out easy and then gets hard, switch it up, just don’t give it up. We added Engage and Experience to the Read, Pray, Sing philosophy. The Engage section provides you with some questions to guide conversation around what the scripture is saying. And we added the Experience section to make potentially abstract biblical principles a little more concrete in your kids’ eyes. Keep it short and set a realistic goal: 10-15 minutes, 2-3 times/week.
  3. We’re with You. As a staff, we are on a journey to make family discipleship a regular part of Westover Kids programming. Family Worship is a part of Family Discipleship. If you have questions, need resources, and/or want to see something done around family worship or family discipleship, don’t ever hesitate to seek out our staff.
