Honoring God by meeting the needs of people in our community.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18

We feel that changed lives occur one heart at a time and as a result culture is ultimately changed. Offering even a cool drink of water in the name of Jesus (Mark 9:41) is a powerful ministry of the Kingdom. While we have no grand plan to fix our city, we want to focus on broad social issues that plague Greensboro. We feel that the work of the Kingdom of God is presently breaking-in (Matthew 6:9-10) and we are called to serve in God’s redemptive plan for individuals and society. Our desire is that love is what we are known by in the community. We are convinced that Westover Church can be a beacon for our city in terms of redeeming individuals and our city.

 Outreach Opportunitites

Following Christ’s example in His ministry, our global ministries commitment begins on the local level – in our own neighborhood, Greensboro – where we desire to show God’s love serving one person at a time.  We have coordinated practical opportunities for families, individuals, single adults, high school, middle school students, children, Small groups, and LifeCommunities.  Each of these ministries offers a range of service opportunities.  Please contact Wes Ward via email at wward@westoverchurch.com or by phone at 299.7374 (ext 3044) if you are interested in serving in one of these areas.

What is the People Helping People Fund?

Our People Helping People (PHP) Fund helps to meet the financial, physical and spiritual needs of individuals within Westover Church as well as our city.  This money is divided in half between two accounts internal (within Westover) and external (in our city).  Please remember that the People Helping People fund is collected on the last Sunday of every month. If you would like to make contributions to this fund outside of the last Sunday of each month you can do so by indicating in the memo line “People Helping People Fund” of your check to Westover Church.
